Man's best friend
Today's class and the discussion of the therapy dog in the hospice facility reminded me of this photo that I saw last week that absolutely broke my heart.
You can find the news article that accompanies the photo here.
Diane's Cox story about the dog that always visited the same women and when it discovered she was dead was truly moving. It's amazing how well animals know when something is different or wrong. For example, if we cry they snuggle up and try to comfort us because they sense you are sad. When you are happy they sense it as well. Dogs are incredibly smart and have great respect for humans. This picture you posted is beautiful. I hope to have a dog who does that for me when I die. Absolutely beautiful.
I hope my Dogs don't look so depressed when I die. The poor Dog in the pic looks like his life has been drained now that his master is gone. He looks lonely.
This photo is very touching! Dogs have a relationship with their owners that is like none other! You are the leader to their pack, they are dependent on you, they follow your every move because to them, you are the most important thing that matters. Some people will argue that dogs don't feel anything, but this photo is proof that they do!
I literally didn't even have to read the title of this before I started tearing up. This picture is incredibly moving.
I was so touched by the therapy dog story told in class. I was doing everything I could to hold back from crying in the middle of it! I could only hope that my dogs would be as understand as she was.
I'm so glad to hear that people are incorporating dogs & pets into the dying process. A friend of my family is the most pet friendly person I've ever met & she actually has trust funds set up for her dogs if she were to die before them. It sounds outlandish, but without any kids & her passion for animals I think it's genius.
This story was extremely moving. I have two dogs myself, but one of them I feel I have a very special bond with. His name is Brunno and every night he sleeps with me in my bed. My roommates told me that when I don't spend the night or when I am out of town he cries the whole time in my room. I believe that animals really can connect with a human being and that their bond can sometimes become even stronger than friendships people may have with others. This picture proves it.
Dogs are indeed extremely sensitive and very close to their owners, for instance the story that Professor Cox explained to us in class about the therapy dog. That is just plain proof of how caring and sensitive dogs can be. They all have a sense on what is going on and what’s going to happen.
I absolutly love this picture. It is so moving and real. I strongly agree that dogs can sense their masters feeling. Whether it be happy, sad or anger, they know. My dog is very aware of my feeling and always knows to comfort me when im feeling upset or if I am stressed out from work. I feel so bad for this dog in this picture. As much as I dont ever want my dog to be greiving if I happen to die before her, but I hope that she realizes I'm gone and is aware that I'm not coming back.
When I first saw this photo online I cried. People do not realize how amazing dogs are and how much they love their owners. Like others have said, dogs know what people are feeling, and they have feelings of their own that are very obvious if you pay attention to them. This photo should serve as a reminder to people how much your dogs love you, so you should alway treat them with respect and love in return!
I've seen a few of these situations and every time it reminds me of the complete unconditional and forever love that dogs have for their owners. The loyalty they have is second to none and you can see that by how hurt the poor pup is just laying there. Such a sad yet inspiring story of how dogs will go to the end of the world for you.
